PROJECT: RURAL RESIDENCE │ CATEGORY: RESIDENCE │ LOCATION: PALAKKAD, KERALA │ CLIENT: MR. SHAHUL HAMEED
This house is getting cunstructed in a rural setting of Palakkad. The plot is a rubber estate with an unpaved road leading to the frontage. With no other built structures in the vicinity, the building would pronounce itself. While designing, I wanted to use more of local elements and materials, thus came up with a fusion of vernacular and contemporary design styles. The materials used are mostly sourced locally - from unplastered laterite walls to recycled roof tiles - thus reducing a significant amount of carbon footprint. The design also aims at passive cooling with venting out of hot air from inside with the roof design.
